Tribute to Ray Chase

When I came down from Wenatchee to run Atomic bowl, I had a tough task of trying to turn the bowl around. It was losing money at the time. Ray asked to meet me and to give me a pitch for hiring him.
We were just barely into the conversation when I realized that Ray reminded me of some other people I knew. He was kind of like an Army Armstrong, Mac Mckay and Bob McCammon rolled into one. Army was the pioneer proprietor of North Bowl, Mac spent every day at North Bowl once he retired from the railroad, and Bob was my Father-in-law who owned Lake City Lanes in Coeur d’Alene. All great guys who loved bowling and bowlers.
Two minutes into the conversation I knew I was going to hire Ray….. but, of course, he kept talking for another ½ hour. I hired him that day and 90% of my task of turning Atomic Bowl around was done.
